About MOXA
MOXA Inc. was established in 1987 in Taipei, Taiwan.
In 1998, they launched the first serial device server — NPort, along with several serial boards for CompactPCI systems. After decades of modernization, both NPort devices and MOXA’s serial boards are still in production today.
In 2002, MOXA launched its first industrial Ethernet switches. Over the last 30 years, this product line has expanded into a wide range of unmanaged and managed Ethernet switches (both DIN-rail and rackmount), as well as industrial routers and firewall series.
In 2003, MOXA established the Moxa Technical Support Certification (MTSC) program — an annual training dedicated to teaching partners and customers how to properly configure and troubleshoot MOXA equipment. The same year, MOXA developed its own Turbo Ring redundant network topology — a technology that allows a network to recover using a redundant path within 20–50 ms. It’s still in use today.

- 2012 – Fanless IP cameras and Ethernet-to-fiber converters
- 2013 – IEC 61850-90-4 certified Ethernet switches
- 2014 – World’s first integrated PRP/HSR RedBox with coupling and QuadBox; launch of their own Network Management System (NMS)
- 2016 – AeroLink Protection technology for reliable wireless connectivity with enhanced resilience
- 2018 – Implementation of Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN)
- 2020 – World’s first industrial switch with all ports supporting TSN
- 2022 – IIoT gateways with Azure IoT Edge integration
- 2023 – IIoT gateways supporting data conversion and transfer from Modbus RTU to MQTT, Azure, and AWS
