The MGate MB3180, MGate MB3280, and MGate MB3480 are standard Modbus gateways. They convert between Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU/ASCII protocols.
The gateways support up to 16 simultaneous Modbus TCP masters. Each serial port can handle up to 31 RTU/ASCII slaves. RTU/ASCII masters can connect to up to 32 TCP slaves.
You can control routing through the serial ports by IP address, TCP port number, or ID mapping. Serial-port routing by TCP port and IP address provides access for up to 4 TCP clients/masters (MB3280/MB3480 models). ID mapping routing provides access for up to 16 TCP clients/masters (MB3180/MB3280/MB3480).

These models let you incorporate Modbus serial slave devices into existing Modbus TCP networks. They also make Modbus TCP slaves accessible to serial masters. The MB3180, MB3280, and MB3480 offer features that make network integration easy, customizable, and compatible with almost any Modbus network.
The MGate MB3180/MB3280/MB3480 Series gateways effectively connect a high density of Modbus nodes to the same network. The MB3280 manages up to 62 serial slave nodes. The MB3480 manages up to 124 serial slave nodes.
You can configure each RS-232/422/485 serial port individually. Each port supports Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII operation. You can also set different baudrates per port. This allows one gateway to integrate both network types with Modbus TCP.
Moxa’s Auto-Device Routing function eliminates many configuration problems. It removes inconveniences encountered by engineers who need to configure large numbers of Modbus devices.
A single mouse click sets up a slave ID routing table. The same click configures Modbus gateways to automatically detect Modbus requests from SCADA systems. By removing the need to manually create the slave ID routing table, the Auto-Device Routing function saves engineers significant time and cost.
