To increase the reliability and extend the life of the power supply.
We suggest using a power supply with a 30% power reserve. For example, if the device consumes 100W, then it is better to choose a power supply of 130W or more.
When choosing a power supply, it is worth considering the ambient temperature at which it will operate.
At high temperatures, the output power of the power supply is reduced, the same is true for low temperatures. A graph of the influence of ambient temperature on output power can be found in the data sheet.
To power devices with a wide range of input voltages, we recommend using the average voltage value.
For example, MOXA switches support input voltage from 12 to 48V, we kindly ask you to avoid using a power supply close to the lower limit (12V DC) or upper limit (48V DC). This is necessary in order to prevent the switch from failing if the allowable voltage is exceeded above 48 V or unstable operation if the voltage drops below 12 V.
