How to convert Modbus RTU to Modbus ASCII using MGate?

Modbus RTU to Modbus ASCII

Moxa’s MGate MB3270 and MB3660 Modbus gateways can be used to convert Modbus RTU to Modbus ASCII (serial redirection).

If two devices are separated by a long distance, protocol conversion can be achieved by coupling two MGates using an Ethernet connection. An example topology is shown below:

To convert Modbus RTU protocols to Modbus ASCII, two MGate gateways connected with an Ethernet cable must be used.

One of the devices is connected via Modbus RTU, the other via Modbus ASCII to the serial port. On the Ethernet side, one MGate is configured as the Modbus TCP Master and the other as the Slave.

It is important to make sure that the slave ID matches the settings on the MGate TCP Master.
